UP Assembly Winter Session 2024: CM Yogi Adityanath Speaks on Sambhal Violence

UP Assembly Winter Session 2024: The Winter Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly has begun today, formal process followed by debates on major issues. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a long speech regarding the recent violence in Sambhal.
CM Yogi Adityanath on Sambhal Violence
In the assembly, CM Yogi said that the violence occurred during a survey conducted under the court's orders. He added,
The survey did not receive resistance for two days.
Violence broke out on Friday, reportedly scheduled to coincide with Jumma prayers.
He accused the opposition of politicizing the incident and referred to the history of communal violence in Sambhal under their rule.
"Sambhal Has a History of Violence," Says CM Yogi
The Chief Minister accused the opposition of ignoring past atrocities:
Sambhal saw 815 communal riots under opposition governance.
In 1978, 184 Hindus were burned alive during a riot.
He questioned the opposition to act on these incidents or mete out punishment to the miscreants.
CM Yogi referring to NCRB statistics has claimed that violence has reduced 99% since 2017 under his government.
Jama Masjid Sambhal survey and Historical Background
CM Yogi countered the claims of there being a temple at Jama Masjid Sambhal in the following words:
Satya like sun and moon cannot be hidden for ever
He mentioned Babarnama, stating that several temples were destroyed to construct mosques during the Mughal period.
The government is acting as per the court orders, and it is the administration's duty to abide by the judicial directives.
A Place of Divine Legacy
Speaking about Sambhal's cultural and spiritual importance, CM Yogi said:
Sambhal is the place where Lord Vishnu's 10th avatar, Kalki, will be born.
He expressed hope for a brighter future for Sambhal, emphasizing the government’s development efforts in the region.
