JioHotstar Domain Drama: ₹1 Crore Demand Disappears, Replaced by UAE Kids’ Charity Page - Read Now

The JioHotstar domain name tussle has taken an unexpected turn and perplexed the followers. Early this week, an app developer based in Delhi came forward stating they had got the JioHotstar domain name back in 2023. The developer probably thought that JioCinema will eventually merge with Disney+ Hotstar. With the name of the merged platform believed to be JioHotstar, the techie sought ₹1 crore from Reliance Industries-the parent company of Jio-to transfer the domain. However, when Reliance threatened to sue, the message from the techie disappeared and was replaced by a page that showed a charitable mission of two siblings from the UAE.

The statement from the original developer shows that they had bought the JioHotstar domain to pay for a course at Cambridge. But soon, when they faced legal pressure, they claimed that they did not have the resources to battle a corporate giant like Reliance and that the website would be shut soon. The page did not just go down; it changed. By Friday, the site carried a mission by siblings Jainam and Jivika from Dubai to inspire children and provide education for underprivileged kids in India.

The new website, named "Our Journey of Seva," introduces Jainam and Jivika, who have explained how the siblings dedicated 50 days in India during their summer break for helping the children learn and set life goals. The new page has photos, videos, and messages about their experiences, further puzzling followers on this domain.

The JioHotstar domain, which was earlier asking for ₹1 crore, was later found on NameCheap for a significantly smaller amount of ₹4.6 lakh, which indicates the original developer might have let it go and is now being bought out by new owners for charitable purposes.

What next for Reliance? With the JioHotstar domain hosting completely unrelated content now, whether Reliance will sue them remains to be seen. Reliance Industries have not commented on the issue so far and HT.com reached out to JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar to get an official response on this. The twist has piqued followers to keep waiting for more updates on the story that continues.
