Big Update on Ratan Tata's Rs 7900 Crore Property: Executors Named
In a significant update on the late industrialist Ratan Tata’s estate, details have emerged regarding the handling of his Rs 7900 crore fortune. According to the Hurun India Rich List 2024, Ratan Tata held a 0.83% stake in Tata Sons. Following his passing on October 9 at the age of 86, Tata's will named lawyer Darius Khambata, close associate Mehli Mistry, and his half-sisters Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy as the executors of his will.
Mehli Mistry, a longtime confidant of Ratan Tata, played a crucial role in supporting him during his later years and continues to serve on the boards of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which together control around 52% of Tata Sons. These trusts collectively hold a 66% stake in the Tata Group.
Ratan Tata’s personal investment vehicle, RNT Associates, had Rs 186 crore in assets as of FY23, a figure that likely appreciated over time. Tata was known for his philanthropic contributions, ensuring that much of his wealth would support charitable causes.
His half-sisters Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, with whom he shared a close relationship, have been active in philanthropy. They now join Mistry and Khambata in managing the responsibilities of executing Tata’s will.
