Onions have become very luxury and expensive item in Delhi, There was one man who raised an appeal to a restaurant for getting onions at no cost because the rates are shooting up. This eventually sparked a viral sensation when it is responded to by Swiggy in an unexpected way in turn making his simple plea viral.

The incident started when a Delhi man ordered food through Swiggy and requested extra onions at the restaurant. He mentioned that how expensive onions have become and in the tone of a joke, said, "Bhaiyya, please send round cut onions. Onions bahut costly hai, I can't buy. Please send onions, bhaiyya." His plea was not just touching but also something understandable given the increasing price of this vegetable.

His roommate shared a screenshot of his plea on Reddit, and it soon went viral. He received thousands of likes and comments on the post. Amused by the man's plea, people on social media started sharing their personal struggles with the rising prices of onions.

The Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of Swiggy, Phani Kishan Addepalli, noted the post. He responded by pulling off a shocking surprise. The executive of Swiggy made the announcement of a flash sale of onions on Swiggy Instamart in Delhi-NCR on November 28.

He put the post up on X (formerly Twitter) and said: "Came across this post of a Swiggy customer asking a restaurant to send some extra onions with the order to save on the price of onions that is shooting through the roof. We hear you and though we can't control prices- just for you, we are launching a flash sale today! Onions at Rs 39 in Delhi-NCR from 7-8pm. Stock up before we stock out.

This all led to much excitement in Delhi city, where people were anxiously waiting for the window of an hour-long sale between 7 pm and 8 pm. For Rs 39, residents of Delhi-NCR could buy onions at a reduced cost, giving them a bit of succor from the soaring price.
