UPSC Success Story: How Tribal Woman Manisha Dharve Secured 257th Rank After Four Years of Hard Work
In an inspiring tale of perseverance and determination, 23-year-old Manisha Dharve, hailing from the tribal village of Bondarnya in Khargone district's Jhirnya block, has secured the 257th rank in the UPSC 2023 examination. Her journey to this achievement was anything but easy, but her relentless effort and dedication paid off.
Family Background and Education
Manisha comes from a humble background. Her father, Gangaram Dharve, an engineer, made the decision to stay in the village to ensure that his children, along with others in the community, received a good education. Manisha began her early education at the village's Anganwadi center. Her mother, Jamna Dharve, a teacher at a government school, also played a pivotal role in providing quality education to Manisha within the village itself.
Manisha completed her schooling up to the 8th grade in the village's government school. She then moved on to complete her 10th and 12th grades in schools in Khargone, scoring 75% in her 10th exams and 78% in her 12th exams. Following her school education, Manisha pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from Holkar College in Indore.
Preparing for UPSC and Overcoming Challenges
After graduating, Manisha decided to prepare for the UPSC examination, one of the most challenging exams in India. She sought her family's permission to move to Delhi for her studies, and despite their concerns, they supported her decision. Her first attempt at the exam did not yield success, but Manisha did not lose hope. She returned to her village and resumed her preparation with renewed vigor.
Despite facing criticism and the challenges that came with repeated attempts, Manisha remained focused on her goal. Her hard work and perseverance finally paid off in 2023 when she cleared the UPSC exam with an impressive 257th rank.
