Telugu superstar Allu Arjun was granted bail on Saturday after being arrested in connection with the tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of his blockbuster film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident, which occurred on December 4, led to the death of a 35-year-old woman and left her eight-year-old son hospitalized. The arrest of Allu Arjun sparked widespread attention, and after spending a night in jail, he was released on a personal bond approved by the Telangana High Court.

Allu Arjun, who was arrested on Friday and placed under judicial remand, addressed his fans outside his home after his release. He assured everyone that he would fully cooperate with the authorities, saying, “There is nothing to worry about. I am fine. I am a law-abiding citizen.”

Allu Arjun’s Bail Release: Legal Process and Frustration Over Delay

The actor, identified as prisoner number 7697, spent the night on the floor of the jail. His legal team, led by lawyer Ashok Reddy, expressed frustration over the delay in releasing him. According to Reddy, although the High Court issued a bail order, the copies of the order were not uploaded promptly, leading to Allu Arjun’s extended detention. The case was also complicated by the fact that Arjun was initially placed under a 14-day judicial remand by a lower court.

The High Court granted Allu Arjun bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000, allowing the actor to return home.

The incident that led to Allu Arjun’s arrest occurred during the premiere of his much-awaited film Pushpa 2: The Rule. A large crowd gathered at Sandhya Theatre, and a stampede broke out, resulting in the tragic death of a woman and the injury of her young son. In the wake of the incident, the city police filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family.

Allu Arjun’s Statement and Legal Developments

In his statement after his release, Allu Arjun expressed his gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support during this challenging time. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family, describing the stampede as an “unfortunate” and “unintentional” accident. “We are sorry for what happened,” he said.

Allu Arjun was taken to Chikkadpally police station before being presented in Nampally court, where he was initially remanded to judicial custody. Later, he sought relief from the charges and the quashing of the FIR in the Telangana High Court. The court granted him interim bail for four weeks, stating that, despite his celebrity status, the actor could not be held responsible for the incident as he was merely attending the film premiere.
