Emergency Release Delayed: Kangana Ranaut Fires Back at Certification Controversy!
Kangana Ranaut’s highly anticipated film Emergency will no longer release on September 6 as planned. The delay comes after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) revoked the film’s certification following multiple petitions.
Kangana Ranaut’s Reaction to the Delay
In a recent interview on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Kangana expressed her frustration over the situation. She said, “An Emergency has been imposed on my film too. It's a very hopeless state. I’m quite disappointed by our country and whatever the circumstances are.” Kangana is upset as she feels targeted, especially since similar historical events have been depicted in other films, such as Madhur Bhandarkar's Indu Sarkar (2017) and Meghna Gulzar's Sam Bahadur (2023).
Kangana also mentioned that despite her film already being certified by the CBFC, the certificate was revoked after further review due to various petitions. She believes this is an attempt to intimidate her and her filmmaking efforts. “We'll keep telling those ridiculous stories otherwise. We get scared so easily. How much will we keep getting scared?” Kangana said. She remains determined to release the film as she originally intended, stating she will fight in court to present an uncut version.
Controversies Surrounding Emergency
Emergency has faced several controversies, including backlash from Sikh groups and ongoing issues with the CBFC. The film, produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, aims to portray one of India's most turbulent political periods. As Kangana continues to face hurdles, fans and critics are eagerly awaiting further developments regarding the film’s release.
