Kanguva Day 1 Box Office: Suriya and Bobby Deol Struggle Against Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again

Kanguva Day 1 Box Office

The much-awaited film Kanguva, starring Suriya and Bobby Deol, finally hit theaters on November 14. Fans were eagerly anticipating the movie, hoping it would live up to the hype generated by its trailers and promotions. However, the opening day collections tell a different story, as the film struggled to keep up with the competition from Bollywood heavyweights.
Kanguva received a range of reactions from critics and audiences. While some praised its visual grandeur and ambitious storyline, others found the execution lacking. This mixed reception seemed to have impacted the film’s box office performance, leaving fans and industry insiders curious about its fate.

Day 1 Collections Fall Below Expectations

According to reports from Sacnilk, Kanguva managed to earn ₹22 crore on its opening day. Although this is a decent figure, it falls significantly short of expectations, especially considering the buzz surrounding its release. With a reported budget of ₹300 crore, the film needed a much stronger start to set the stage for long-term success.

One of the biggest challenges for Kanguva was the stiff competition from Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Both films have been performing exceptionally well at the box office.

Singham Again collected a staggering ₹43 crore on its opening day, setting a high benchmark. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 also delivered an impressive ₹35.5 crore on its first day.
In comparison, Kanguva’s ₹22 crore collection seems modest, raising questions about its pan-India appeal.

Before its release, Kanguva created a buzz with strong advance bookings, selling over 2.33 lakh tickets. This led to high expectations, with trade analysts predicting a ₹40 crore opening. However, the actual numbers have left both fans and the filmmakers disappointed.

What Lies Ahead for Kanguva?

Directed by Siva, Kanguva has the potential to pick up momentum in the coming days, especially in Suriya’s stronghold of Tamil Nadu. The film’s stunning visuals and grand scale could attract family audiences during the weekend. However, it faces an uphill battle to recover its hefty budget of ₹300 crore.

The performance of Kanguva highlights the evolving preferences of Indian audiences. Strong storytelling and engaging narratives are becoming more important than just star power or large-scale productions. While Suriya and Bobby Deol’s performances have been appreciated, the film’s lukewarm reception underscores the importance of meeting audience expectations in a competitive market.

Kanguva’s journey has just begun, and the coming weeks will determine whether it can rise above the challenges and establish itself as a box office success.
