Nana Faces Backlash on SNS After Slamming THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo

On April 13, Nana, the popular idol-actress, took to the fan communication platform Bubble to address the recent controversy regarding her criticism of THE BOYZ's Sunwoo. Nana had been the subject of intense backlash after commenting on a viral video involving Sunwoo. In her message, she expressed discomfort over the hate comments and the demands for an apology she received on Instagram.

Nana Explains Her Reaction to Sunwoo’s Behavior

In her post, Nana clarified that her intention was not to stir up controversy but to share her personal reaction to Sunwoo’s actions. She mentioned, “I didn’t write that comment to stir up news articles, but now that this has blown up into something bigger, I do feel a bit uneasy.” She explained that her criticism was based on what she perceived as rude behavior when Sunwoo dropped his AirPods and made no effort to pick them up, expecting the bodyguard to retrieve them instead.

The incident in question occurred when Sunwoo was seen in a viral video shouting, “My AirPods!” as they dropped, prompting a bodyguard to rush and retrieve them. After receiving the AirPods, Sunwoo did not thank the bodyguard, which sparked criticism from viewers. Some fans accused Sunwoo of treating the bodyguard like a servant, leading to heated discussions online.

Nana’s Personal Reaction to the Situation

Nana further explained, “So I judged that specific behavior and felt it was inappropriate. That’s why I wrote ‘You need to be scolded’—I was just expressing my personal reaction to the act.” She also emphasized that, though her comment may have been misinterpreted, she still stood by her words. “I certainly didn’t see the situation that way. But I could be wrong—it’s entirely possible to misinterpret someone depending on the situation,” Nana stated.

Nana’s Apology and Reflection on the Incident

In closing, Nana expressed that after rewatching the video, she still felt that she would have reacted similarly to Sunwoo’s behavior. “I don’t even know who he is. But if someone like that were standing next to me, I would’ve said the exact same thing: ‘You need to be scolded,’” Nana concluded, acknowledging that her personal perception might not align with others.

Despite the backlash, Nana's candid reflection has sparked conversation about public behavior and the treatment of staff and support teams.
