Nargis Fakhri’s Sister Aliya Arrested for Shocking Double Murder in New York

Nargis Fakhri, a well-known Bollywood actress, is making headlines for an unexpected and tragic reason. Her sister, Aliya Fakhri, has been arrested in New York after allegedly killing her ex-boyfriend and his new female friend. The shocking incident has sent waves of disbelief through the public as details of the crime continue to emerge.

Aliya Fakhri set a two-story garage on fire out of jealousy, leading to the deaths of Anastasia 'Star' Ettienne, 33, and Edward Jacobs, 35. Both victims tragically died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, with authorities confirming that they were trapped inside the burning building.

District Attorney Melinda Katz, speaking at the ongoing trial in Queens Criminal Court, described the act as "malicious" and "unforgivable," emphasizing how Aliya's actions led to the tragic loss of two lives. "This defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by setting a fire that trapped a man and woman in a raging inferno," Katz said in her statement.

Nargis Fakhri’s Mother Responds

Although Nargis Fakhri has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident, her mother has come forward to defend her daughter Aliya. In an interview, she expressed disbelief at the allegations, stating, "I don’t think she would be killing someone. She was a person who was caring for everybody. She tried to help everybody." She also revealed that Aliya had struggled with opioid addiction following a dental mishap, which may have contributed to her actions.

In response to the tragedy, Jacobs' mother also spoke to the media, clarifying that her son, Edward Jacobs, and Anastasia Ettienne were friends, not lovers. She explained that Jacobs was working as a plumber and had been attempting to convert the garage into an apartment before the incident.

A witness to the crime scene shared their harrowing account of the events. According to the eyewitness, there was a sweet, burning smell in the air before the fire engulfed the garage. “We smelled something sweet burning. I don’t know if it was gasoline or what. We ran out, and the couch on the stairs was on fire,” the witness recalled. "Star jumped over with me but she went back in to save Jacobs. It was an abusive relationship. She had told everyone in the past that she was going to burn his house down, that she was going to kill him. We just laughed at her."
