Thangalaan Sinks at the Box Office: Chiyaan Vikram’s Film Faces Tough Competition from GOAT!

Released on August 15, 2024, Thangalaan, starring Chiyaan Vikram, was highly anticipated. However, the action-adventure film has had a disappointing run at the box office. Not only has it been overshadowed by Thalapathy Vijay’s blockbuster The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), but it has also struggled to recover its large production budget.

As of its 24th day, Thangalaan has made a total of ₹45.98 crore in India, with a gross collection of ₹54.25 crore. Overseas, the movie has earned ₹16.80 crore, bringing the worldwide total to ₹71.05 crore. Despite Chiyaan Vikram’s well-praised performance, the film’s box office collections have dwindled, with daily earnings now below ₹5 lakh. Mounted on a budget of ₹135 crore, the film is still 47% away from recovering its costs.

One of the key reasons for Thangalaan’s poor performance has been the success of The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) in Tamil Nadu, which has captured the audience’s attention. With GOAT dominating the box office, Thangalaan has struggled to maintain traction. Its prospects for recovery seem bleak.
