The Sabarmati Report Box Office: Can Vikrant Massey’s Film Bounce Back?

The much-anticipated film The Sabarmati Report, starring Vikrant Massey, Riddhi Dogra, and Raashii Khanna, hit theaters on November 15. Despite receiving praise from critics and audiences for its storytelling and performances, the film has struggled to make a mark at the box office.
A Slow Opening Amid Tough Competition
The Sabarmati Report opened with collections of ₹1.5 crore on its first day, as per trade reports. The numbers saw a slight improvement on the second day, reaching ₹2 crore, bringing the total collection to ₹3.25 crore over two days. The film's slow start could be attributed to stiff competition from two big releases: Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Ajay Devgn's Singham Again. Releasing amidst such heavyweights has limited its reach, despite its compelling narrative.
Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film is inspired by the tragic 2002 Godhra train burning incident involving the Sabarmati Express. It dives deep into the socio-political aftermath of the event, aiming to bring to light the human and emotional toll of that dark chapter in history. The film was made on a modest budget of ₹50 crore, with Ekta Kapoor helming the production.

Pre-Release Controversies
Before its release, The Sabarmati Report faced multiple controversies, leading to a change in its release date. This may have impacted its promotional momentum, contributing to its subdued opening at the box office. However, Vikrant Massey’s stellar track record and the film’s strong storyline had already created significant buzz.
