Akhilesh Yadav Claims BJP Plot to Reduce Voter Turnout, Urges EC Action

Uttar Pradesh elections: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday alleged the BJP of plotting to deter voters from exercising their right in Uttar Pradesh elections. Interacting with X users, Yadav accused the BJP of widespread electoral malpractice, which weakened public trust in elections and the law-and-order machinery. He claimed this pre-election security parade is more aimed at frightening voters than ensuring confidence.

Yadav said such moves are intended to favour the ruling party by intimidating people to keep voting in huge numbers. He urged the EC to act pronto to bust these plots and make it a free and fair poll. Yadav said citizens have become more alert than before and are all set to unmask such activities in the elections. This time, the people will be equipped with cell phone cameras and are ready to take wrongdoers to task regardless of their position, he said. Considering the proposed conspiracy, the SP has planned the best course of action for ensuring its voters exercise their franchise unobstructed. The "PDA Team" at every booth will remain active to assist voters and report the situation. The party has urged its workers to note such instances where voting is attempted to be thwarted and report it immediately to the top leadership of the party thereafter.
The SP has set up a "war room" at state headquarters, which will oversee all the strategy so that quick communication and response are possible. Videos of any irregularities will be recorded and this will be escalated with the authorities and, if necessary, in courts. Akhilesh Yadav's statement reflects an increasing will in his party and the electorate to safeguard the electoral process from being interfered with, and every vote really matters.
