Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently expressed concern over the lack of access to Ayushman Bharat Yojana benefits in states like Delhi and West Bengal. In his speech, he has clarified that this Ayushman Bharat program has been designed such a way that primary health for the underprivileged and for weak sections, including all sorts of elderly people and all will be taken care of in this program. They themselves are not willing to launch this scheme, depriving the people living in the corresponding states of this useful scheme.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana was implemented with the goal of healthcare accessibility all over the country. The marginalized section of society must get the needed medical assistance without any fiscal burdens. The Prime Minister stressed that this scheme will reduce the health care inequalities because the scheme provides the facility to avail the needed health services by the elderly section. Absence of the scheme in Delhi and West Bengal made a huge difference in comparison to the people living there who could otherwise avail affordable health care services.

In the speech, PM Modi targeted the AAP government of Delhi and the TMC government of West Bengal for blocking public welfare by not adopting the plan. He said his dream of equal healthcare delivery to all the states of India was being stalled due to non-cooperation because Ayushman Bharat Yojana is an important step toward that approach. He argues that these state governments are playing politics at the expense of the well-being of their citizens by withholding these services from them and depriving thousands of what could be life-saving healthcare assistance.
