Bahraich Violence: Sarfaraz Shot in Police Encounter, Injured and Arrested
Bahraich, India — In a major development in the Bahraich violence case, Uttar Pradesh Police conducted an encounter on Thursday, injuring two prime suspects, Sarfaraz alias Rinku and Talib. Both men were wanted in connection with the killing of Ramgopal Mishra during the Bahraich violence.
Attempt to Flee to Nepal Foiled
The police encountered Sarfaraz and Talib near the Handa Basehri Canal, close to the Nepal border, where they were allegedly trying to flee to Nepal. Acting on an intelligence input, the police set up blockades and managed to corner the two men. When ordered to surrender, Sarfaraz and Talib reportedly opened fire, forcing the police to retaliate. During the exchange of gunfire, both men sustained gunshot wounds to their legs.
Sarfaraz and Talib were immediately taken to a hospital, where their condition is reported to be serious. According to authorities, Sarfaraz had been on the run since the Bahraich violence and was a key suspect in the murder of Ramgopal Mishra.
Police Action Continues
Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order Amitabh Yash confirmed that five individuals have been arrested in connection with the violence, including Sarfaraz and Talib. He stated that an encounter took place near the Nepal border, where both sides exchanged fire, leading to the injuries of the two suspects.
The police remain vigilant, ensuring that all individuals involved in the violence are brought to justice. The Bahraich violence has drawn significant attention, and the authorities are committed to preventing suspects from escaping and ensuring accountability for their actions.
