Barabanki Suicide Case: 25-Year-Old Man Dies Allegedly Due to Harassment Over Love Marriage

Barabanki Suicide Case: A 25-year-old man, Sudhir Kumar, reportedly died by suicide in Barabanki’s Baddu Sarai area on Thursday night, allegedly due to harassment by his wife’s family following their love marriage. Sudhir was found hanging from a tree, just 200 meters from his home in Khor village.
Social Media Post and Suicide Note
Before taking the extreme step, Sudhir posted his marriage certificate and wedding pictures on Facebook with the caption "Hamari Adhoori Kahani" (Our Incomplete Story). A two-page suicide note recovered by the police detailed the harassment he faced after his marriage.
Reason Behind the Tragedy
The Love Marriage: Sudhir met the woman while she visited her brother, who shared a room with him in Barabanki city. Despite initial support from her brother, her brother-in-law opposed the relationship.
The Harassment: The couple proceeded with a court marriage six months ago, but Sudhir alleged in his note that the woman’s parents and brother-in-law harassed him continuously, pushing him to end his life.
Police Investigation Underway
Circle Officer Saurabh Srivastava confirmed that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. An investigation will commence once a formal complaint is filed.
This tragic incident highlights the societal pressures and challenges faced by couples in inter-family marriages. Authorities are expected to take action to ensure justice for Sudhir and his grieving family.
