BJP Tears into Rahul Gandhi and Supriya Sule on the Alleged Rs 235 Crore Crypto Fraud in the Election Campaign
In a fresh ruckus amid the cryptocurrency fraud scandal, the Bharatiya Janata Party has risen the ante against Maharashtra Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule. The BJP says she was involved in this alleged illegal transfer of Rs 235 crore via cryptocurrency, which was supposedly used for election expense purposes. BJP keeps using the claims made by her estranged cousin, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, to question her involvement in the matter even after Supriya Sule denied it all.
A controversy has erupted over four audio clips that the BJP released yesterday, purportedly containing conversations between prominent figures, including Sule and Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole, about shifting huge sums of money. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra demanded an investigation into the authenticity of the voices and even hinted that Sule's voice might be among those in the clip. The BJP claims that Sule is heard discussing money transfers and reassuring her accomplices that they would not be caught. However, Sule has dismissed the claims stating that the audio was manipulated using AI technology to impersonate her voice and defame her.
BJP charge has gone a step further to target Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who it says should answer how some members of his party are linked to the scheme. Patra pointed out the Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole as one of the links to the scam, arguing that one of the benamis—the owners to whom the illegal money was meant for transfer—are Patole.
The controversy has created great political tension and BJP raised questions against some prominent personalities in NCP, Congress while demanding clarity on the Rs 235 crore transaction said to have come from Dubai. BJP leaders also challenged Rahul Gandhi over whether he knew about these transactions, and if he had delivered instructions to Patole regarding the funds or not.
The opposition has rebutted the accusations made by the BJP, claiming that the party is trying to deceive the public by framing a meaningless conspiracy theory.
This development raises serious questions about the legitimacy of audio evidence and the growing importance of AI manipulation in modern political campaigns. The allegations against Sule and Patole remain unproven, while BJP's aggressive posture has made it a focus of the ongoing political debate.
