Bharatiya Kisan Union Organises Massive Mahapanchayat at Zero Point in Greater Noida
Bharatiya Kisan Union: In a show of strong solidarity, the BKU has today organized a large-scale Mahapanchayat at Zero Point in Greater Noida against the forcible eviction of farmers from the Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida and arrest of several leaders and farmers. The protest is seen as a direct response to what BKU calls a crackdown on peaceful demonstrations. Thousands of farmers from Western Uttar Pradesh and neighboring districts are expected to participate in the Mahapanchayat, many of whom will arrive on their tractors.
The call for the protest was given during a Panchayat headed by Chaudhary Naresh Tikait, one of the key leaders of the BKU. The decision to hold the Mahapanchayat was unanimous, and leaders said that "we should stand united against all this." Farmers have condemned their eviction and arrests and were demanding immediate release of the arrested individuals.
The event at Zero Point is expected to attract massive attention as farmers raise their voices against the injustice. It reminds us of the farmer protests in India that have been a major political issue for years. The Mahapanchayat will be followed with keen interest by politicians and citizens alike, as it is expected to be a turning point in the struggle for farmers' rights in the region.
The BKU has vowed to continue their efforts until their demands are met and the government takes concrete action towards redressing their grievances.
