Deep Potholes and Flying Cars: Safety Concerns on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

Alwar, Rajasthan – The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, often referred to as the super expressway, has been witnessing a troubling rise in accidents, particularly in the Alwar and Dausa regions of Rajasthan. A recent video circulating on social media highlights the dangerous state of the expressway, showing a speeding car losing balance and flying into the air due to deep potholes.

High-Speed Hazards

The expressway, where vehicles can legally travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h, has become notorious for accidents. The main culprits are uneven roads, poorly maintained surfaces, and potholes. These road conditions have led to numerous incidents where drivers lose control of their vehicles. In addition, scattered gravel and waterlogged sections on the expressway have only added to the risks, making it hazardous for motorists.

A viral video from the expressway shows a car hitting a bump and being launched into the air due to poor road conditions. This alarming footage has raised serious questions about the safety of the expressway, particularly in areas like Alwar, where accidents are frequent.

On-Ground Investigation

A field report from a news team revealed several damaged sections of the expressway. Near the Sheetal Toll Plaza at the 131.1 km marker, waterlogged roads and deep potholes were spotted, causing vehicles to lose balance. Drivers often have to make sudden stops, which leads to collisions with vehicles behind them. The team also found several damaged areas between Rajgarh and Alwar, with broken surfaces and loose gravel creating additional dangers.

In many parts, including near Pinan Cut and 36 kilometers from Alwar, the expressway is littered with debris, further increasing the risk of accidents. The uneven and poorly maintained road surface is causing chaos for drivers, and calls for immediate repairs have intensified.

Safety Concerns

With the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway being a critical link between two major cities, the ongoing safety issues are becoming a serious concern for commuters. The rise in accidents and viral videos of vehicles flying into the air are a clear indication that the expressway is in urgent need of maintenance and repairs to ensure the safety of travelers.
