It will happen on the evening of 31st October as per the Panchang. Puja can be done the most ideal between 5:37 in the evening and 8:45 in the evening. During this time, it said to be the most auspicious time to invoke the grace of Maa Lakshmi for prosperity and fortune.

For those who fail to perform puja according to the auspicious muhurat of the Diwali day, they may settle for the alternative timings for Diwali as depicted below:

  • Pradosh Kaal Muhurat: 5:35 to 8:11 p.m.
  • Vrishabh Kaal Muhurat: 6:21 p.m. to 8:17 p.m.
  • Nishita Kaal Muhurat: 11:39 p.m. to 12:31 a.m. (late in the night)

These even work as an alternative conducting Lakshmi Puja respectfully and accurately.

  • Preparation and Cleanliness: Start your day by cleaning the house properly because Maa Lakshmi is believed to reside in clean and neat spaces.
  • Decorating Puja Space: In the evening, decorate the home with flowers, leaves, and rangoli. Put a toran at the main door and decorate the puja area with colorful rangoli designs.
  • Altar Setting Up: Place some cleaned surface with a red cloth over it. Now put idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh Ji over it. Some put an idol or pic of Lord Kuber here symbolizing wealth. All keep cash and other kinds of valuables as prosper.
  • Offer to the Gods: Light a ghee lamp and incense sticks. Make roli, rice, flowers, and other things offerings to Maa Lakshmi, Ganesh Ji, and Kuber Ji. The Lakshmi and Kuber mantras chanted during the puja are considered especially effective.
  • Bhog Offering: After finishing all the rituals, make kheer as bhog to Maa Lakshmi. It is said that kheer offerings fetch more blessings.
  • Lighting Diyas: Once the puja is over, light diyas throughout your home. This way, light will chase away darkness, bringing in light and good fortune for your home.

  • Turmeric-Treated Cowries: Cowries depict Maa Lakshmi. Soak white cowries in turmeric liquid to make them yellowish. Wrap them in red cloth and keep on altar. After puja keep them in your safe to enhance financial growth.
