Diwali Tragedy: 29 Bihar Police Personnel Injured in Bus Accident

In a tragic accident on Tuesday, a private bus carrying special arms police personnel from Bihar toppled and fell into the roadside ditch in Ballia, leaving 29 injured passengers. The mishap occurred past midnight as the bus was heading to Siwan, Bihar. The police personnel were on peace and order duty ahead of the forthcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals, news reports said.

Bus Accidents in Ballia & Udhampur Injure Dozens

As many as ten personnel were airlifted to Sadar Hospital at Ballia immediately for treatment. There are 19 more at the Community Health Center, Sonbarsa, Bairia, who are still under treatment. All of the injured are said to be stable, and proper treatment is being ensured, the officials said.
On the very same day, an incident is reported when a private bus fell into a roadside ditch as a result of which almost 30 people including those of nursing college were reportedly injured. The mini-bus was travelling from Salmari to Udhampur when it meets the mishap near Farma village. The injury victims were rushed to the Udhampur Government Medical College Hospital for treatment. The Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, personally visited the injured in the hospital to assess their condition and oversee the medical response.

Both incidents have brought to the fore the serious issues associated with road safety, particularly in hilly and rural areas where roads are narrow and winding and carry more risk. Official sources are investigating the cause and taking necessary measures so that such incidents do not happen again in the future. In both cases, swift action by local authorities and medical staff has been pivotal in managing the injuries and getting the injured passengers appropriate medical attention.
