In a major breakthrough, the Ghaziabad Police, in collaboration with the Crime Branch and Muradnagar Police, have arrested two interstate drug traffickers with 2 kilograms of opium worth Rs 55 lakh. The accused, identified as Sanjay Bhuiya and Ramchandra Bhuiya, were reportedly smuggling the drugs from Jharkhand to various states, including Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

According to the police, the two traffickers were arrested on Friday after being tracked for smuggling opium based on regional demand. The accused revealed during interrogation that they were previously working for a notorious opium dealer named Prakash but later branched out to operate independently for higher profits.

Details of the Arrest


Sanjay Bhuiya, an uneducated native of Jharkhand's Chatra district, was initially a cook at a local hotel but turned to opium trafficking for more lucrative earnings. His accomplice, Ramchandra Bhuiya, a 10th-grade pass, was working as a laborer before becoming involved in the smuggling operation. Both traffickers earned Rs 20,000 per trip and smuggled drugs via buses and trains to fulfill demand across various regions.
