Guwahati Drug Bust: ₹3 Crore 'Mad Medicine' Confiscated, Four Including Woman Arrested in Narcotics Raids

The Guwahati police on Wednesday conducted a major crackdown on narcotics and arrested four persons, including one woman. With the raid conducted by the police at a guest house in the Hatigaon area, they confiscated drugs worth over ₹3 crore along with some cash and mobiles.

The operation, conducted by the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD), seized 10,000 tablets of 'Yaba' and 11 grams of heroin. Yaba is also known as 'crazy medicine' because of the potent addictive combination of methamphetamine and caffeine it packs. According to the authorities, five soapboxes hidden drugs would have been an evidence of a more extensive trafficking network in the region.

Along with the drugs, the officers have seized four mobile handsets and ₹5,000 in cash. According to a senior official, the total value of the seizures, according to NCB standards, was around ₹3.08 crore.

This operation is one of the continued efforts of EGPD to face growing drug trafficking issues in the locality. Three persons, including a 40-year-old woman, are detained and may be charged with the possession and selling of illegal drugs. Authorities continue to investigate to identify the source of the drugs and uncover if they have connections to bigger crime organizations.
