Ahead of the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, Congress has released its first list of candidates, announcing names for 31 seats. Notably, renowned wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been fielded as the party’s candidate from the Jhulana constituency. Haryana Congress President Udaybhan has been given the ticket to contest from Hodal (SC) constituency, while former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will contest from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi.

The list includes 27 sitting MLAs, reaffirming the party's trust in them. Chiranjeev Rao, the son-in-law of Lalu Prasad Yadav and the sitting MLA from Rewari, has been given the ticket again. Mahendragarh’s sitting MLA, Rao Dan Singh, who had lost the Lok Sabha elections from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, will also contest from Mahendragarh again.

Among the key highlights of this list, two tickets were given to MLAs who recently joined the party, and Vinesh Phogat, a prominent figure in Indian sports, will make her political debut. The list also includes four sitting MLAs who are close to senior Congress leader Kumari Selja.

This first list of Congress candidates comes as the party gears up for a crucial electoral battle in Haryana, with major names like Bhupinder Hooda and Vinesh Phogat adding weight to its lineup.
