Haryana Election 2024:  Both Congress and BJP are facing difficulties in finalizing their candidate lists for the upcoming Haryana election. The Vocal News Sources reveal that Congress has started seat-sharing talks with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), hoping to revive the INDIA alliance, which won five of Haryana's 10 Lok Sabha seats earlier this year.

For Congress, there is disagreement between state leaders and the central leadership regarding the number of seats to offer AAP. Congress leaders in Haryana are unwilling to give away too many of the state's 90 seats.

AAP has identified some key seats, but these are the same ones former Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda wants for his loyal supporters. This has caused friction within Congress, even though they have announced an 'in-principle' deal with AAP.

Rahul Gandhi has urged his party to form an alliance with AAP to prevent a division of votes. He believes the opposition must unite to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP, whether in state or national elections.

Initially, AAP asked for 10 seats, but Congress offered only 5 to 7 seats. Another seat might go to Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, which is also part of the INDIA alliance.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Congress contested nine seats and won five, while AAP failed to win the Kurukshetra seat from BJP. Congress claims that wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia will contest on their behalf, boosting their chances against BJP.

BJP Faces Internal Issues

BJP, on the other hand, is dealing with internal conflicts after releasing a list of 67 candidates. Jails Minister Ranjit Chautala and MLA Lakshman Napa quit the party after being denied tickets. Chautala plans to contest as an independent candidate, while Napa has met with Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda and plans to join Congress.

Ranjit Chautala is the son of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal Chaudhary. Chautala won the Rania seat in 2019 as an independent but later joined BJP, though he lost in the Hisar Lok Sabha race. BJP has chosen Shishpal Kamboj to contest from Rania instead.

Meanwhile, Karan Dev Kamboj resigned from his role as the chief of BJP’s OBC Morcha after being denied a ticket. He criticized the party for favoring new entrants over long-time loyalists.

Haryana Election Details

Haryana's Assembly election will now take place on October 5, delayed from October 1 due to the Bishnoi community’s Asoj Amavasya festival. The Election Commission postponed the date to respect their traditions.

The results for both the Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir elections will be announced on October 8.
