Indian Diaspora in Brazil Welcomes PM Modi Ahead of G20 Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a heart-warming welcome by the Indian diaspora community when he arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday for the G20 Summit. The community welcomed him by waving Indian flags, displayed their artwork and sundry memorabilia to show their deep attachment to India.

Their energy reflects the affection that binds us across continents, alongside vibrant pictures of the event. India is an important member of the G20 Troika with Brazil and South Africa. During this year's conference, India has been setting the agenda. Building from the G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration and the two Summits of the Voice of the Global South, PM Modi would seize the opportunity to present India's views on some of the global issues of compelling interest during the summit deliberations.

The MEA confirmed PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with several world leaders as part of the summit, discussing matters of various issues to further India's bilateral diplomatic and economic ties.Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nigeria, before heading to Brazil, and met President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The discussions were about strengthening cooperation in key sectors including defense, technology, health, and education among others.
After the G20 Summit, PM Modi will make his first-ever visit to Georgetown, Guyana an historic one, as no Indian Prime Minister has ever visited South America since 1968. In this visit, President of Guyana Mohamed Irfaan Ali will host PM Modi, who would address the Parliament and interact with the Indian diaspora. He will also visit the Second CARICOM-India Summit in Georgetown, where he will further meet Caribbean leaders to advance India's relations with the region. The visit shows India's growing global influence and additionally manifests its commitment toward the strengthening of international partnerships.
