Health Alert Dengue Symptoms

Lucknow is witnessing an upsurge in dengue cases. This season has portrayed symptoms that have alarmed the medics. The traditional symptoms of dengue fever have been high fever and fall in platelet count. But now the fever comes with vomiting and diarrhea, which aggravate the complications. The conditions in the symptoms have sent more and more patients into hospitals - high fever with acute muscle ache.

Lucknow Dengue Outbreak: New Symptoms and Rising Cases

Doctors have already observed that some patients test negative for dengue and chikungunya even though they exhibit a characteristic symptom, which includes vomiting, diarrhea, and sharp decline in the level of platelets. According to Dr Rajesh Srivastava, CMS at Civil Hospital and Dr Pawan Kumar Arun, Director at Balrampur Hospital, such symptoms point to dengue in certain cases. According to the experts, it could be the reason that the virus is, by nature, going into mutation and thus changes the symptoms caused.

Changing Face of Dengue

Doctors add that this virus can mutate and also causes diseases in the form of new symptoms. Not all affected patients undergo these new signs, but if they do, then chances are higher that they will be admitted to the hospital. Time for diagnosis and treatment is due for this unpredictable disease.

Do Not Ignore Symptoms

Health professionals urge patients to seek a blood test immediately, if fever does not disappear. Delayed treatment may give way to complications like muscle pain and, in extreme circumstances, neurologic abnormalities. Dr. Srivastava further underscores the need for assessing platelet count and medical attention when other symptoms accompanied by fever appear for the first time.

Case Studies Illustrate the Extremity

Case 1: Vinay is a resident of Wazirganj, got on symptoms of high fever, vomiting and diarrhea simultaneously in the span of three days. Has tested positive for dengue and is admitted.
Case 2: Neha from Aliganj was having fever symptom for past one week. Reports of dengue, malaria, and typhoid were all negative. Platelets dropped to 80,000 and was admitted after getting diarrhea.

This season's dengue outbreak requires great vigilance: early and prompt treatment will drastically reduce the risk of serious complications.
