Jhansi Inspector Caught on Video Slapping Man 31 Times, Faces Suspension
A shocking video of a police inspector from Mauranipur Kotwali in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral on social media, and the authorities have taken swift action. The footage shows Inspector Sudhakar Shakya assaulting and verbally abusing a man who had come to the station to file a complaint against his wife. The incident, reportedly a month old, surfaced online, prompting the police department to suspend the officer and initiate departmental proceedings.
The video captures the inspector aggressively questioning the complainant and later slapping him 31 times in just 41 seconds. The complainant had explained that he did not know his grandfather's name as the officer demanded details. This led to the inspector becoming enraged, hurling abuses, and assaulting the man while he pleaded for the violence to stop. The entire incident was secretly recorded by someone present at the scene.

In a later development, Jhansi Rural SP Gopi Nath Soni confirmed the suspension of the officer and initiation of disciplinary action after the circulation of the video. It has also been reported that the victim was detained in the station for hours after the assault. Widespread outrage has sparked after the incident over police misconduct and abuse of power.
