Kolhapur: Ichalkaranji Observes Complete Shutdown in Protest Against Persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh
Ichalkaranji, August 16 – In a powerful show of solidarity, Ichalkaranji has observed a complete shutdown today in response to the ongoing persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. The bandh was called to protest the increasing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, including attacks, forced conversions, and the alleged murder and rape of Hindu individuals.
The call for the bandh was made by various Hindu organizations demanding immediate action from the Indian government. They have urged for strict measures to ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh and the deportation of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingyas from India.
Since early this morning, all commercial activities in Ichalkaranji came to a halt. The streets, usually bustling with activity, were notably quiet, and a large police presence was visible throughout the city to maintain order. The bandh has received enthusiastic support from local residents, highlighting the community's strong stance against the atrocities faced by Hindus in Bangladesh.
In the evening, a human chain protest is planned on the main highway, marking the end of the day's demonstrations. The event aims to draw further attention to the issue and show the solidarity of the Indian people with their persecuted counterparts in Bangladesh.
This collective response underscores the urgency and gravity of the situation, as the city unites in its call for justice and protection for Hindus across the border.
