A major scam has come to light at the historic Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, with Member of Parliament Ramesh Awasthi filing a formal complaint to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The controversy revolves around alleged mismanagement and financial irregularities concerning the leasing of prime space within the stadium.
₹16 Lakh Property Rented for ₹1.2 Lakh
According to a report by TV9 Bharatvarsh, a section of the stadium valued at ₹16 lakh per month was leased to a restaurant for just ₹1.2 lakh. The massive discrepancy in the rental amount has raised suspicions of foul play. Questions are now being raised regarding why this deal was made at such a low cost, with many speculating that it resulted in significant financial loss for the stadium.
Strange Terms in the Agreement
The same report highlights unusual clauses in the rental agreement. The restaurant was allegedly allowed to operate rent-free for nine months, causing a potential loss of crores of rupees to the stadium. Such lenient terms have sparked outrage, with critics calling for a thorough investigation into the decision-making process.
Free Passes and Unrestricted Access
Another concerning aspect of the agreement is the provision of 200 free passes to the restaurant management for each match held at the stadium. Additionally, the restaurant staff was granted unrestricted access to roam freely throughout the stadium during matches, which poses serious security concerns.
MP Ramesh Awasthi’s Complaint
In light of these revelations, MP Ramesh Awasthi has formally raised the issue with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, demanding an impartial investigation. Awasthi has called for strict action against those responsible for the mismanagement, emphasizing the need for accountability to ensure such incidents do not recur.
