Indian Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker triggered a social media storm after she put out a query on X, asking if she deserves the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. Known for her exceptional achievements, Manu shone as India's standout performer at the Paris Olympics 2024. She bagged two bronze medals-one in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event and another in the mixed team event along with Sarabjot Singh. This feat earned her a place in the record books as the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single Olympic edition.

 The post immediately gained heavy trolling and, as a result, created speculations among the fans and followers. Some thought that the post may not have been written by Manu herself and may be a hacking incident on her account, while others felt that the statement was a disappointing one. Manu later deleted the post and hasn't clarified anything about the situation yet.
Now previously known as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is the country's highest sporting honor. The award is the first given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to a sportsperson, based on outstanding performance for the fourth consecutive year in his sport.

In general overall performances, India won a rather unimpressive six medals that consist of five bronze and one silver from the Paris Olympics 2024. Shooting turned out to be India's most successful sport, with bronze medals coming for Manu Bhaker and Swapnil Kusale in the Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions. Wrestling also had its shining moments with Aman Sehrawat taking the bronze in Men's Freestyle 57kg. The Indian Men's Hockey Team took the bronze after defeating Spain, while Neeraj Chopra returned with a silver in men's javelin, coming second behind Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem.
