Actor Mushtaq Khan kidnapped and tortured in Meerut: Meerut police probe connects to Sunil Pal, comedian

Bollywood actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his performances in Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke and Welcome, was kidnapped and tortured for hours in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, in an incident that shocked him to great distress. The incident took place on November 20, 2024, when Khan received a call inviting him to an event in Meerut. However, what seemed like a routine engagement quickly turned into a horrifying ordeal.

The actor was promised a fee for his appearance and was mailed a flight ticket from Mumbai to Delhi. The event organizer, Rahul Saini, had arranged a cab in Delhi to pick up Khan once he arrived. But as the cab stopped unexpectedly at a dark place, Khan was taken into another vehicle where a number of men were present. Suspicious and alarmed, Khan protested but was subdued by the kidnappers, who covered him with a sheet and drove him to a remote location.

Once in the den, he was tortured and made to dial his family to negotiate for ransom. The kidnappers could transfer ₹2 lakh from Khan's account to their account. Finally, after several hours of torture, the kidnappers drank heavily and passed out, which made Khan slip out of the house and take shelter in the local mosque. A cleric in the mosque helped Khan make some calls to his family members and lodge a police complaint.

The case has caused huge concerns because it bears resemblance to a recent kidnapping of comedian Sunil Pal, where he was abducted from Meerut. Sunil Pal's kidnappers demanded Rs 20 lakh, and while he managed to pay the amount of Rs 8 lakh, he was released at Meerut too. Now, the police are examining if there is any linkage between the two kidnappings.

This case highlights a disturbing trend of high-profile kidnappings in the region, and police in Meerut are keenly following up on leads. As Mushtaq Khan recovers from his traumatic experience, authorities are mounting pressure to ensure justice in the case. The investigation goes on as the connection in the two high-profile abductions unfolds.
