NDA Oath Ceremony: Mahayuti Gears Up After Maharashtra Victory
Sources revealed that the swearing-in ceremony will initially include only the chief minister and deputy chief ministers, with cabinet appointments to be decided and announced at a later stage.

Currently, the two contenders for the chief minister's post are Eknath Shinde-the CM and Shiv Sena faction leader-they have also declared commitment to keeping the alliance united-under stress-they have emphasized that unity will be maintained as it will be a collective decision taken by all three Mahayuti leaders. The political observers speculate that Fadnavis may claim the top post as the BJP emerged the largest party with 132 seats. However, Eknath Shinde's significant role in an alliance's success also adds weight to his candidature. Opposition leaders have targeted Shinde already with suggestions that he might have to work under Fadnavis if the BJP takes the lead.
Political Turmoil in Maharashtra: A History
Maharashtra politics has been marred by intense battles for the chief minister's chair. In 2019, power play between Uddhav Thackeray and Devendra Fadnavis saw the downfall of the BJP-Sena coalition after which Thackeray formed a Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government with the Congress and the NCP. But the game reversed itself in 2022 as Shinde played a power game that took down the MVA government and joined the BJP in becoming the chief minister.
The Mahayuti alliance has now gotten stronger, with Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP as well as Shinde's Sena joining hands with the BJP. Its recent victory in the assembly polls cements its dominance, but the choice of who will be the next chief minister will define leadership and direction.
