NEET paper Leak Case: Supreme Court Says No Systemic Breach, Leak Limited to Patna and Hazaribagh

New Delhi: In the NEET paper leak case, the Supreme Court has ruled that there was no systemic breach, stating that the leak was confined to specific locations in Patna and Hazaribagh. This ruling brings clarity to the extent of the breach, alleviating concerns of a widespread issue in the examination process.
In its ruling, the Supreme Court instructed the committee established by the Centre to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at technological advancements. These SOPs are to address potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the examination system, improve identity verification processes, and implement CCTV monitoring at exam centers.
The Supreme Court emphasized that such inconsistencies in a national exam do not benefit the students. The court further noted that the expert committee must address and rectify the shortcomings in the exam system, according to Live Law.
On July 23, a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, dismissed the request for a re-test, stating that a comprehensive explanation would be provided at a later date.
This three-judge bench, under the leadership of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, delivered the verdict amidst ongoing controversy surrounding India's premier medical examination, NEET. The court has been evaluating petitions that call for either the cancellation or a re-test of NEET-UG, the entrance exam for undergraduate medical courses.
