November School Holidays 2024: Why Schools Will Be Closed on 15th, 16th, and 17th

Just as the Diwali holidays have just passed, the students are all geared up to enjoy more breaks in November 2024 since this month is a wave of festivals, including Diwali, Chhath Puja, and Guru Nanak Jayanti. As many as 13 holidays have been declared in several states, including four Sundays, and schools and government institutions will be closed on various occasions, which will greatly relieve the students from studies.
November 2024: Extended Holiday Season for Schools and Banks
There will be a three-day holiday continuously starting from the next days. Punjab government published the list of holidays. Schools would be closed on 15, 16, and 17 November. November 15 is also the day of Gurpurab Guru Nanak Dev Ji so this day would be observed as a public holiday also. Shaheed Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha's martyrdom day falls on 16th November which is Saturday also so another holiday. Another important aspect is that November 17 (Sunday) is also a weekly day off; therefore, the three days from 16th November will become a long weekend for the students and employees in Punjab as all educational institutions and government offices will be shut.
Meanwhile, holidays for Chhath Puja will be observed in Bihar from 6 to 9 November, and the schools will remain closed during this time. Banks in other states will also have an extended weekend next week because Chhath Puja will cause holidays on 7 and 8 November, while the bank will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday on 9 and 10 November. It is a long stretch of holidays that marks the festival season in the month as most of the states offer a lot of holiday time for cultural festivals.
