Om Prakash Rajbhar Joins Nitish Kumar’s Rally, A Game-Changer for Bihar Politics?

Bihar's political scenario was shaken on November 9th when Om Prakash Rajbhar, leader of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), shared dais with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at a high-profile rally. In the past, Om Prakash Rajbhar opposed Bihar NDA. He attended the Ramgarh rally for NDA candidate Ashok Kumar Singh.

Along with attending the ceremony, other prominent BJP leaders including Dilip Jaiswal, Vijay Chaudhary, and Radha Mohan Singh generated ripples over the purported political tie-up between SBSP of Rajbhar and NDA in Bihar. Much can be said about the comparison as he has been pretty vocal against the political representation from Bihar for the Rajbhar, Rajwar, and Rajvanshi communities. These communities, dominating Bihar's electorate, have remained politically irrelevant from time to time. Rajbhar hopes to strengthen his political base in the state by promising three ministers and 10 MLAs in case his party manages enough strength. Higher participation in rallies hints at his aspiration to be a significant force in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

Having been an ally of BJP in Uttar Pradesh, increased interaction with the NDA in Bihar would indicate a change in alliance. This could make his party, SBSP, become as aligned to the NDA as possible, and thereby BJP's base among these crucial communities would be promoted. At a time when Ramgarh by-elections are just around the corner, Rajbhar's backing would continue to be seriously useful for the NDA with regards to winning, thereby promoting potentially influential changes in Bihar politics.
