PM Awas Yojana: 10 Lakh Homes to be Constructed in MP Under PMAY Urban 2.0 – Eligibility, Benefits, and More
The PM Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 in Madhya Pradesh is going to change the housing scenario with the construction of 10 lakh homes for the underserved families. It has been approved with a massive budget of ₹23,600 crore, and this will benefit those who have not yet received housing assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
This new round of PM Awas Yojana intends to facilitate a lot of people; however, the top preference shall be given to specific ones. The family staying in slums, sanitation worker, construction laborer, Anganwadi workers, and artisans coming under schemes like PM Swaniidhi and PM Vishwakarma shall have preference. People coming in the EWS (Economically Weaker Section), LIG (Low-Income Group), and MIG (Middle-Income Group) categories will also be covered to ensure these crucial groups of society get the needed houses.
The scheme has already been a great success. 825,000 people in Madhya Pradesh have already received their homes. And in the first phase, 945,000 homes were approved. The vision of the government is to make affordable housing available for all, and with special emphasis on the living conditions of the most vulnerable.
The budget allocation includes ₹19,700 crore for grants from both the central and state governments and ₹3,900 crore under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) for interest subsidies. This is highly generous funding that will provide the scheme with the required resources to meet its ambitious target.
