With the onset of the 2024 Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections, PM Narendra Modi has made an urgent appeal to the people of both states to participate actively in the democratic process. In his appeal, PM Modi urged the voters in Maharashtra to vote enthusiastically and make this democratic festival a colourful one. Voting for all 288 constituencies in Maharashtra started on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The election is key as nearly 9.7 crore registered voters are anticipated to make their voice heard, with 4,136 candidates, including 2,086 independents, contesting the elections.

PM Modi, posting a message on his social media platform X, appealed to the people of Maharashtra to vote enthusiastically in the elections. He called out specifically to youth and women voters to participate actively in the electoral processes. "Your vote is crucial to making India's democracy stronger," said PM Modi.

At the same time, the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections are underway. The elections in Jharkhand are going to take place in two phases. The first phase has been scheduled for November 13, whereas the second phase is for November 20. Prime Minister Modi also called on the people of Jharkhand to set a new record for voter turnout in this phase, encouraging every voter to participate. He congratulated first-time voters, urging them to recognize the importance of their participation.

The prominent candidates that are going to contest in the Jharkhand Assembly elections include Chief Minister Hemant Soren and BJP's Babulal Marandi in key seats. The counting is scheduled on November 23, 2024, marking the outcome of these elections. Both states seem to be in for the high-stakes contests that are going to dictate the political mould in the decades to come.

Maharashtra is also witnessing considerable attention as the polling there would close by 6 pm. Some major political parties including BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, have thrown up contenders in the fray. PM Modi's appeal continues to resonate across both states while the day marches ahead, focusing on democracy's value and encouraging people to vote with fervor.
