PM Modi Receives Highest Awards of Guyana and Dominica in Recognition of his International Contributions

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in another recognition of his global leadership, has been rewarded with two of the highest awards from both Guyana and Dominica. Above all, these awards mark him out as one who did exceptionally outstanding work during the COVID-19 periods and continues to cement India's bilateral ties with both of these Caribbean nations.

During his official visit to Guyana, President Irfaan Ali bestowed the highest honor of Guyana, The Order of Excellence, on PM Modi. Thanking the people of Guyana with appreciation, PM Modi dedicated the same to the 140 crore citizens of India. On being asked that this recognition is not only a testimonial to his leadership but also a deep-rooted historical bonding between the two countries, India and Guyana.

The Order of Excellence is Guyana's highest award, and PM Modi becomes only the fourth foreign leader to receive this honor. The Prime Minister acknowledged the award's significance, particularly in light of the strong and growing friendship between the two nations. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also highlighted that the award recognized Modi’s leadership and statesmanship, notably during the global pandemic, which saw India extend its support to many nations.

Prime Minister Modi was also presented with The Dominica Award of Honour by President Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica. This recognition recognized his leadership and India's solidarity with Dominica during the COVID-19 crisis. Modi played a crucial role, for instance, in helping supply 70,000 AstraZeneca vaccines during the worst moments of the pandemic. Skerrit lauded the contributions of Modi as a "lifeline" to his nation and an exemplary example of global partnership and South-South cooperation.

PM Modi thanked the Dominican government for conferring upon him the Dominica Award of Honour and stated that it symbolized the unbreakable bond between India and Dominica. He further emphasized his commitment to ongoing collaboration on global challenges such as climate change, sustainable development, and health.

These two international awards will also make Barbados its next honorarium for Prime Minister Modi and add to his tally to 19 international awards. These accolades tell about the rising stature of Prime Minister Modi and this recognition towards India in global solidarity, especially in times of crisis.

Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and India’s role in global affairs are more significant than ever, with these awards underscoring the nation's commitment to strengthening relationships with countries worldwide.
