Kanpur has witnessed a disturbing rise in student suicides. Just a few days ago, an IIT Kanpur student died by suicide, and now another tragic incident has surfaced from Rama University. This marks two student suicides within three days, sparking serious discussions about youth mental health and academic pressure.

What Led to Naveen’s Suicide?

Naveen was a first-year B. Pharma student at Rama University.
He had failed all subjects in his recent semester exams, causing extreme distress.
Two days before his death, he had spoken to his family via video call.
His hostel roommate was on leave, and he was alone at the time of the incident.

Hostel Authorities Found the Body

On Wednesday evening, when Naveen did not respond or open his room door, his friends alerted the university administration. Upon entering, they found him hanging from the ceiling. His family was immediately informed, and police arrived to send the body for post-mortem examination.

Family’s Statement and Investigation Update

Naveen's father, Saroj Gupta, revealed that his son had been ill recently, but medical reports were normal.
He was a twin, with his sister being just two seconds older than him.
Police are investigating the case, and if the family files an official complaint, a formal case will be registered.

Rising Academic Pressure and Student Mental Health
