During the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, false reports circulated that Ratan Tata had pledged to reward Afghanistan’s star spinner, Rashid Khan, with ₹10 crore after Afghanistan’s impressive victory over Pakistan. These rumors quickly spread across social media platforms, causing a stir among cricket fans.

In response to these unfounded claims, Ratan Tata took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to clarify the situation. He categorically denied having any connection to cricket or any intention to offer such a reward. In his statement, Tata said, “I have not suggested any fine or reward to any cricket member or player with regard to ICC or any cricket department. I have no association with cricket. Please do not believe such WhatsApp forwards or videos unless they come from my official platforms.”
