In a shocking incident that has left passengers in disbelief, a venomous snake was spotted slithering in the air-conditioned coach of the Vasco-Da-Gama Weekly Express train, sparking panic among travelers. The alarming sight was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, raising serious concerns about safety on Indian trains.

The Incident Unfolds

On October 21, as the train journeyed through the Jharkhand-Goa route, the snake made its way from behind the curtain near the lower berth, alarming passengers. Ankit Kumar Sinha, traveling with his parents, was among the first to notice the reptile, leading to screams and a frantic alert to the train’s pilot.

Upon notification, the pilot quickly called in IRCTC staff, who arrived to handle the situation. Using a sheet, they managed to capture the snake and safely released it back into the wilderness, but the origin of the snake remains a mystery.

Passenger's Plea for Action

Following the incident, Ankit took to social media, posting the video on X (formerly Twitter) and tagging the Railway Ministry, urging immediate action. His tweet read, "Traveling on train 17322 (Jasidih to Vasco Da Gama) with my parents when the snake appeared on our berth. Please take immediate action."

The Railways' service team promptly responded, requesting Ankit to share his PNR and mobile number for further assistance. The Divisional Railway Manager from Ranchi acknowledged the complaint, assuring that it would be addressed.

A History of Snake Sightings

This isn't the first snake-related scare on Indian trains. In September, a snake was spotted hanging from a window of the Garib Rath Express, causing panic among passengers. Such incidents have raised alarms about the safety measures in place on public transport.
