One such story that took everyone's breath away was the theft in the Nizamabad district of Telangana. It is said that a driver of the TGSRTC was dismissed from duty on November 12. He was caught on camera trying to steal the gold from the bag of an unsuspecting passenger while driving. A vigilant passenger sitting behind him recorded the whole scene, which went viral on social media, and TGSRTC authorities swung into swift action.

In the CCTV video, it was found that a driver is trying to open a passenger's bag and stealing gold jewelries. The officials of TGSRTC confirmed about the incident after seeing the tape and soon terminated the driver's employment. According to the rules of TGSRTC, whatever is left behind at the bus must be reported to the driver or conductor who in turn must submit the same at the concerned department. If personal articles are left behind, the officials make efforts to communicate with the passenger so that one can return the same safely to him or her.

The case of pilferage was reported on the Warangal-Nizamabad route. According to complaint, the passenger was traveling from Warangal to Nizamabad when the other passengers caught the driver for stealing it as they were alert after finding some suspicious activities by the driver. Initially, he agreed that he fell the ornaments, but then he revealed that he has attempted to steal them.

Similar Incident in Uttarakhand

Recently, a similar incident hit the headlines from Uttarakhand, where a woman police officer was reportedly traveling by bus from Kashipur to Haldwani. She allegedly lost gold jewelry valued at around ₹8 lakh on board. It was on November 3 when the policewoman traveling with her sister entered the city police station, where she was posted. She was carrying a trolley bag containing her jewelry. When she reached Haldwani and opened her bag for checking, she found that the jewellery was stolen, with a cut near the zipper of the bag. She suspected that the theft may have taken place somewhere after Ramnagar.

Both the incidents depict the need to make public transport more secure and vigilant towards passengers' goods.
