Telangana Thalli Statue Unveiled: An Icon of Identity, Struggle, and State Pride

In a momentous ceremony on Monday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled the much-awaited Telangana Thalli (Mother Telangana) statue at the state secretariat. The statue, set amidst the background of traditional Vedic chants, symbolises the collective spirit and struggles of the Telangana people.
CM Revanth Reddy was addressing a huge gathering after the launch and said, "Many political parties tried to define Telangana Thalli with many images. Till now, no official representation has been established. This image that has been chosen is a common woman. It does not depict any divine form but all sections of the society, so it can be considered a powerful symbol for every mother in Telangana's households.
The Telangana Thalli statue is meant to express several key aspects of the state's identity and its agricultural heritage. The woman is dressed in traditional attire and extends her right hand for reassurance, offering comfort to all. Her left hand cradles the staple crops of Telangana, such as paddy, jowar, and maize, symbolizing the deep-rooted agricultural prosperity in the region. The color scheme of the statue-blue, green, red, and gold-represents Telangana's rivers, agricultural strength, progress, and overall prosperity.
Revanth Reddy further says that the base of the statue is closed fists and thus a tribute to the agitations that have given form to the identity of the state.
The unveiling of the Telangana Thalli statue marks a significant milestone in the state's cultural and political landscape. The government has identified nine eminent personalities—poets, activists, and cultural figures—whose contributions will be recognized with a plot of land and a cash reward of ₹1 crore each.
Also, the state government issued clear directives on the protection of the Telangana Thalli statue. Any distortion, damage, or disrespect toward the statue, be it in public, private, or on social media, will be met with serious legal action.
