UP: Teenager Admits Pushing Mother to Death After Argument in Gorakhpur

In a shocking case of maternal murder, a teenage boy had first claimed that his mother, Aarti Verma, had died due to an accidental fall. However, a detailed police investigation brought the truth to the fore and the teenager admitted to killing his mother.

Aarti Verma, aged 45, passed away on December 3 after her head struck a wall in their Gorakhpur home. Her son, a class 11 student, initially told his father and the police that his mother’s death was a tragic accident. He claimed she fell after an argument. However, his explanation quickly began to unravel under police scrutiny.

Suspicion arose as the postmortem report went against the boy's version. Bloodstains were found in various spots in the house, suggesting that the body had been dragged, and CCTV footage revealed that no outsiders had entered the house. Large sums of cash in ₹100, ₹200, and ₹500 notes were also found in the room, which gave more doubts.

During intensive grilling for two hours, the teenager confessed to involvement in the crime. In his confession, he relates that on the morning of December 3, it was an argument over cash and money when his mother pitched the cash at him and he pushed her down which led to her hitting a fatal head injury.

"This one has shocked the family just as much as it has surprised the community," the spokesperson said. His father, Ram Milan, assistant scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Chennai, had no inkling of his wife's death until four days later. He was worried as his wife's phone was off for two days and had asked his sister-in-law to check on the house. On his return, he found his wife's body and his son had initially misinformed him about her death.

This tragic incident has raised serious questions about family dynamics and the consequences of violence in households. The teenager is now in police custody, and authorities continue to investigate the crime.
