Vidhi Shanghvi: The heir apparent to Sun Pharma's Rs 4.35 Lakh Crore empire, and the future of Indian pharma

Vidhi Shanghvi, the scion, holds a vital position at India's largest pharmaceutical company with a market value of ₹4.35 lakh crore. She is going to be the head for Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd at the hands of Dilip Shanghvi, who is the wealthiest man in India's health sector, with a net worth of $29.2 billion.

Vidhi Shanghvi is very well-educated. She has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. This is one of the world's top academic institutions. With this strong footing, Vidhi has been playing a leading role at Sun Pharma, shaping its strategy and success in the Indian pharmaceutical industry.

Currently, Vidhi serves the company as Vice President and Head of Consumer Healthcare, Nutrition, and India Distribution while helping drive Sun Pharma expansion in these key areas. She is also a non-executive director at Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Limited, an entity that further solidifies her involvement in the family business.

Apart from her professional success Vidhi Shanghvi is also an advocate for mental health awareness. She has established a non-profit initiative that provides mental health consultancy, helping individuals prioritize their well-being—a cause close to her heart.

Sun Pharma, founded in 1983 by Dilip Shanghvi, started as a small venture with just five products. Over the years, it has grown to become one of the largest generic pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world. Sun Pharma's rise in the Indian market and its global reach are a testament to the visionary leadership of Dilip Shanghvi, and Vidhi’s contributions are expected to further strengthen the company’s legacy.

Vidhi marries Vivek Salgaocar, the son of Goan industrialists. This brings her into contact with some of India's most influential business families, such as the Ambanis. This further cements the Shanghvi family's position in India's top industrial circles and helps Vidhi in her business and social life.
