Nathan Lyon takes the blame for the Adelaide floodlight fiasco: 'I couldn't believe that

Nathan Lyon: Just days after the India vs Australia second Test match in Adelaide went in their favor, Nathan Lyon did something surprising. He came forward and confessed that he caused the floodlight fiasco that caused the game's suspension. This unusual incident came about during the 18th over of Australia's first innings, forcing an interruption as the floodlights went off twice.

The situation unfolded when Lyon, eager to practice in the nets, requested that the lights in the nets be turned on. However, a mix-up occurred when the wrong switch was hit, causing the floodlights at the Adelaide Oval to go dark instead. The match, which was already at a tense point, had to be delayed while the lights were restored.

In a jovial interview with Seven's coverage, Lyon admitted, "I couldn't believe that. I was actually with our assistant coach 'Boro', sitting out there in the dark, and the security guard asked us what had happened. We requested the lights, and next minute, they went off again. I literally said, 'I reckon he's hit the wrong switch'.

Lyon, known for his humility, did not shy away from accepting the blame for the mishap, saying, “I’ll take that one, getting blamed for someone not knowing how to turn the lights on.” The incident not only disrupted play but also extended the final session of the match. Despite the confusion, the match resumed, and Australia eventually secured a dominant 10-wicket win over India, leveling the five-match Test series at 1-1.

The Adelaide Oval floodlight failure has added an unexpected twist to the already thrilling India vs Australia Test series, where fans and players alike went onto social media to share surprise over the oddity of the situation. Lyon's admission of fault has now become a talking point and cricket enthusiasts are finding fun in the mix-up.
