When Ganesh Meets Ghusl: Muslim Dad's Hindu-Themed Wedding Cards Spark Unity Buzz in Amethi
AMETHI, Uttar Pradesh, Nov 7, 2024 — A wedding card designed by a Muslim family in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh has sent the waves across social media for featuring the images of Hindu deities.
Shabbir or Tiger, bridegroom is including pictures of Hindu gods Ganesh and Krishna in his daughter's wedding card. The date scheduled for the wedding is November 8 at Aladdin Village, Raja Fattepur, Senpur Gram, Soothi Maharaj Ganj, Raebareli.
We wanted to invite our Hindu brothers in a manner that was appeasing to their traditions," he says. "Since the wedding card mainly contained the message in Urdu for our Muslim relatives, we decided to have a different design for our Hindu friends and family members. This way they could understand and appreciate the invitation easily.".
The decision to integrate Hindu and Muslim traditions in the wedding invites is seen as a symbol of unity and brotherhood. Shabbir further says, "We also had pre-wedding feast for our Hindu guests a day before the actual event, and that created a feeling of togetherness and mutual respect."
This wedding card design with the Ganesh-and-Krishna print has received numerous appreciative comments for encouraging Hindu-Muslim harmony. Thousands of netizens have hailed the effort as commendable to the communal bonds and a lesson for others.
Many social media users have shared the card, and it has emerged as a major symbol of unity in a region often marked by religious tensions. "This is a beautiful way to bring communities together," one user commented. "It shows that love and respect transcend religious boundaries.".
