Sadhguru has taken on a new role as a photographer with his latest book, Disappearing Faces. The photography book captures the lives and faces of people he met during his journeys through the remote Himalayan regions of Nepal and Tibet over several decades.

Published by Penguin India, the book offers a close look at communities living in some of the most remote parts of the Himalayas. The photographs capture people whose lives remain closely connected with nature and far removed from the fast-changing world of modern life.

The book was launched on Monday at the India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was present at the launch. The event was followed by a conversation between Sadhguru and author and commentator Anand Ranganathan, where they discussed the stories and experiences behind the photographs.

Talking about the book, Sadhguru said the faces he photographed represent a way of life that may soon disappear. He spoke about people whose lives have been shaped by their direct experience of nature, including changes in light, weather, seasons, water and the land around them.

Sadhguru has had a long connection with the Himalayas. He first travelled to Manasarovar and Mount Kailash in 2006 and has returned to the region several times since then, including while leading seekers on Himalayan pilgrimages.

His connection with the region also took a different turn in 2025 when he undertook his first motorcycle journey to Mount Kailash. He is set to return to the Himalayas on a motorcycle again this year.

Through Disappearing Faces, Sadhguru presents photographs taken during his travels and offers a visual record of Himalayan communities and their way of life. The book also reflects his long association with the mountains and the people he has encountered during his journeys.

The Himalayas have remained an important part of Sadhguru’s life for many years. Along with his work focused on human wellbeing and raising human consciousness, he has also been involved in efforts related to ecological regeneration.

With Disappearing Faces, his photographs now offer another way to look at the people and communities he has encountered across the Himalayan landscape.
