Lucknow Kitty Party Scam: Socialite Rashmi Singh Accused of Cheating Women of Rs 2 Crore
A high-profile scam in Lucknow has shocked many, as a socialite from Indira Nagar, Rashmi Singh, has been accused of duping several women of nearly Rs 2 crore. According to the police, 45-year-old Rashmi allegedly used her kitty party network to target businesswomen's wives and other women, convincing them to invest in mutual funds or her fictitious kitty parties promising high returns.
Rashmi Singh was able to garner her victim's confidence through lavish social gatherings. She reportedly befriended them, invited them to stay in her opulent villa, and then made small gifts to gain their trust. With such high-profile social status and a well-maintained social media presence, Singh projected an image of money power and influence. These demands lured her victims to invest large amounts of money.
The scam, in which at least 10 victims were cheated, came to light with a complaint filed by Rashmi Singh stating that some women had stolen blank cheques from her home. However, as the probe progressed, police found out that Rashmi herself had masterminded the fraud. Victims claimed that huge amounts were swindled from them. In fact, one woman even lost Rs 18 lakh out of which only Rs 5 lakh was returned. Even the ladies who demanded their remaining money alleged that the accused threatened them.
The lavish lifestyle of Singh, who maintains a posh villa in Bal Vihar Colony, including several luxury cars, has furthered the suspicions about her activities, and questionable behavior in front of CCTV cameras from her society established misbehavior with security guards raising eye brows of her residents.
Lucknow police have filed an FIR against Rashmi Singh, and the investigation into her and her involvement in the multi-crore scam is in progress. ACP Aniruddh Vikram Singh confirmed that Rashmi Singh was under rigorous investigation for her role in the multi-crore scam and was being pursued with justice for the women who had fallen prey to the scam.
In fact, the more the investigation continued, people became increasingly anxious and worried that this was the hundredth incident of a similar scam that targeted women through investment schemes. Authorities were warning people to be cautious when investing money and always getting verification regarding the credibility of any financial venture, especially those advertisements promoted by social media.
